Targeting the U.S. market first, and later expanding into Europe, the pouch is a bio||intelligent, pro-healing sleeve designed to wrap around pacemakers during implantation surgery. The sleeve integrates Spartha’s patented antimicrobial coating technology, which is biocompatible, biodegradable, and capable of gradually releasing infection control biopolymers in the body to prevent infections and promote healing at the surgical site.

The medical need is urgent: post-operative infections following pacemaker surgeries not only triple the risk of mortality but also lead to over 100,000 deaths annually in the U.S. alone. These complications often require surgical revisions, increasing costs for healthcare systems and posing serious risks for patients. The pouch addresses this challenge head-on by providing a safe, intelligent, and sustainable solution designed to reduce infection related complications and improve patient outcomes.

Our role in 4D-EASLEE will allow us to demonstrate the potential of our technology in complex in-body applications, reinforcing its adaptability and safety profile. The success of this project will serve as a strong reference in our discussions with future co-development partners and clients, showcasing our ability to deliver effective antimicrobial solutions that seamlessly integrate to existing implantable devices.
